Balance

For me, the most difficult struggle of my life has been about achieving balance: sadness to elation, empowerment to helplessness, time no time. The first half of my life was out of control, either by fate or by will. Balance, that stabilizing force, eluded me for decades. Art has given me both control and balance, the life tools that I need for continued survival or, maybe now that I have acquired those tools, I make art. In either case, the result is exhibited in this painting.
